Forum

Just click the link below and you will be connected to the Group Ride Forum.  We have set up categories for setting up rides, car pools and of course group rides.  If you can think of a category that we missed, let us know and we might add it.   This particular forum even has real time chats too.  Kinda cool.

We’ve never set one of these up before, hell we don’t even use them very often, so please be patient while we work out the kinks.

We would also like to encourage everyone to use their real name.   If you aren’t willing to post with your real name you probably shouldn’t be posting.

Hi Joe.

Great site, great idea!

I would like to know how I can add my triathlon Team Trifecta to the team page? I plan on adding this link to my website http://www.t2coaching.com.

Thanks

Got a link to your site and am glad to see something take shape for the sake of rides and general FTC bike awareness…good on you.

I’ll be glad to add or contribute as I find gems…

Bike is in excellent condition, it’s a 50cm road frame built up into a TT bike with Shimano Dura Ace 10spd equipement. I ride a 54cm rode bike if that helps.

The Highway 14 leg was a near disaster on the Oval ride on 1/31/2009. It could have been a major disaster if our luck wasn’t so good. That was a huge group, including a lot of eager younger riders who apparently don’t have the sense to get down off the road farther to pee, with a huge field passing and dealing with rumble bars and semis (or drop off the back and pee rolling). I don’t know how many riders went down in the 2 or 3 “situations”, but it could have been really bad.

Leaders of the ride should plan the route to avoid 14 when assessment indicates too much risk on that death trap.

I agree, regardless of the ride or riders Highway 14, is a bad idea. There have been discussions of having the ride continue East on Vine (rather than turning South on County Rd 15) on the dirt and turn straight south towards Severance. Doing this would allow us to avoid Highway 14 all together aside from going straight across it once. I’ll move this conversation to the forum so we can get more input.

Today was ridiculous.
Who took Carter, Tom or Jon ? I saved myself the embarrassment and peeled off at the rainbow turnoff and cut through loveland.
Have not seen a gutterfest like that in quite some time.

I appreciate the effort to get the ride off of Hwy 14, but the gravel wasn’t too ride-able, too loose in spots, and way washboarded nearly everywhere, causing many riders to abort the mission, or slow down and concentrate on staying upright, but getting dropped in the process. Today I thought I had the legs to “ride with the Italians”, just not the nerve to ride on that stuff. Keep tinkering with the route.

For those of you who haven’t tried one yet, Jason S.’s Winter Ralleye rides are wonderful. Today was the “Cinnamon Roller” to UNC and back on the Poudre Trail, with a long layover at a coffee shop on campus. This group contains some great athletes (Lionberg, Knott, Trujillo (dad not son))but it is a social ride in the european tradition. The pace is milder, and stops to eat and drink a shared spread are common, but long mileage makes me feel like I got a good ride, and it kinda breaks the treadmill funk I get into after too many group “race training” hammerfests in a row. Try one or just check out Rick Price’s photos from this year’s rides. http://www.flickr.com/photos/expeditionplus/

I though the gravel was nice, the group out there was wayyy to big to stay together once on 14. the Folks that race are usually used to riding on a little dirt, and keeping up with Jon and Tom meant that you had to be a heavy hitter period to be in the “A” group. People from that group were getting shelled the whole ride, not just the dirt section… the east wind did not help.
